The era of fumbling in the dark for a jagged metal key while carrying heavy groceries is officially over. Today, homeowners are rapidly transitioning to connected, keyless ecosystems. Modern access control allows you to unlock your front door with your fingerprint, assign temporary access codes to a dog walker, and double-check that your house is secure from your smartphone while sitting at your desk. However, improperly installing these advanced devices leads to constant motor jams and weekly battery replacements. We are Lathrup Village, MI’s premier specialists in residential smart lock upgrades. We don't just bolt a computer to your door; we expertly integrate high-tech security into your home's physical architecture, ensuring flawless operation and absolute peace of mind.

You can buy the most expensive, advanced Wi-Fi deadbolt on the market, but if it is installed on a misaligned door, it will fail within weeks. A standard mechanical deadbolt allows you to pull or push the door slightly while turning the key to overcome friction. A motorized smart lock does not have that luxury. The tiny motor must push the heavy steel bolt completely horizontally. If the bolt rubs against the strike plate in the door frame, the friction causes severe battery drain and rapid motor burnout—the number one complaint of DIY smart lock installations. When we execute residential smart lock upgrades, we meticulously calibrate your door hinges and dynamically route the metal strike plate so the motorized deadbolt glides effortlessly with zero resistance.
We carry and install a wide variety of industry-leading smart locks to perfectly match your family's specific needs and your home's aesthetic in Lathrup Village, MI.
A smart lock is only as secure as the wood it is mounted to. While we are upgrading the electronic brains of your entryway, we also upgrade the physical brawn. We reinforce the wooden door jamb by installing heavy-duty, extended metal strike plates using three-inch steel screws that bite directly into the "king stud" of your wall framing. This ensures that your new, high-tech lock is fiercely protected against violent kick-in attacks.
Don't settle for outdated, sticky hardware or the anxiety of lost house keys. Upgrade your home with the seamless convenience of professional keyless entry.

"I bought a popular Wi-Fi smart lock but couldn't get the deadbolt to slide in smoothly. The motor kept jamming and killing the batteries. The technician came out, fixed the alignment on my wooden door frame, and got the smart lock working perfectly."
"We love our new biometric lock. The kids just use their thumbprint after school, and I never have to worry about them losing a house key again. They also reinforced the door frame with huge screws. Highly recommend this team."
The city of Lathrup Village is an outgrowth of the development known as Lathrup Townsite, the dream of its developer Louise Lathrup Kelley. In 1923 she purchased a tract of 1,000 acres (4 km2) in Southfield Township, in southern Oakland County, and proceeded to plant a residential neighborhood that encompasses the city of 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2). Lathrup Townsite was conceived as a controlled community with rigorous standards, including houses built only of masonry construction; early integration of attached garages; as well as established minimums for construction cost to ensure quality. The community also had housing covenants to prevent the sale of homes to African American families, part of a larger trend in the mid-20th century of racist white Detroiters fleeing to the suburbs to avoid living near black residents (see white flight). As the community developed, Mrs. Kelley implemented numerous innovative directives, including operating a shuttle service to local shopping areas, and allowing the financing of automobiles as part of the financing of houses, which created a stronger connection between the relatively isolated townsite and more established suburbs, as well as the city of Detroit. Mr. Charles Kelley, who had been a real estate writer for the Detroit News, assisted his wife in bringing talented architects to the community to design many of the custom homes that are features of the community. The City of Lathrup Village was incorporated in 1953 as the first incorporated community in Southfield Township. The residents thwarted an attempt by township residents to include Lathrup Townsite in their planned incorporation of the city of Southfield, resulting in Southfield's incorporation being delayed until 1958. Louise Lathrup Kelley played an active role in the new city until her death in 1963, after which her remaining real estate holdings in the city were sold and developed.
